Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Dear oh dear. Another embarrassing weekend, tainted by leaving my wallet in the back of a cab at 7 in the morning. Day by day I'm losing hope of becoming a mature responsible adult. In my few moments of not being a moron, however, I've been continuing to wonder about what fresh sounds are going to come rescue us all from the drab 'modems having sex with fax machines' electro that's become so overworked.

My good friend Boonie was kind enough to once again draw remind me how stupid, naive, clueless (etc etc) I've been by bringing an old Mylo track to my attention for the first time. Somehow I managed to let his album slide past me without ever having a full listen. Not that I'm not a huge fan of his stuff. But I'm just thankful that I've finally come around and heard Otto's Journey, one of the most gorgeous things to hit my ears in quite a while. All I want right now is for people to go back to trying to make unbelievably kick ass synth sounds like these, rather than new ways of making things sound like a detuned radio. So if you know the track, listen again. If you don't, you must be foolish like me, but here's your chance! Check out the lovely Etienne mix of Paris Four Hundred too. Extra hot sped up a bit.

Mylo - Otto's Journey

Mylo - Paris Four Hundred (Etienne De Crécy Remix)

I wasn't 100% sure when I posted Party Machini a while ago that it would be the next K I M single, wondering could they really continue to re-dish out all these old tunes and keep making dollars? Probably about time for a re-re-release of B.T.T.T.T.R.Y, right? Anyway, it's of course a fantastic track, one of his best, and it's my opinion that anything can be improved with a kazoo. Here's the mildly silly Tomboy rendition.

K I M - Party Machini (Tomboy Remix)

I owe Boonie big time. But this doesn't have anything to do with that: he's churned out a great fidgety set with plenty of new and old faves. Super tightly mixed on the decks, it's really a good listen. Love the Stones ender. Hit up the tracklisting here and look out for him if you're in Sydney.

Boonie - Noise: The Musical

Breakbot is definitely one guy who I was way too quick to judge back when I was all Justice fanboi. Somehow I managed to overlook his hot french bassline brilliance and sneaky disco charm. Of course my view of him has changed dramatically in the last few months and I see him as a bit of an electro saviour at this point. Got to see him play a couple of weeks ago and it was everything I'd hoped it would be. I don't have anything new and exciting of his to post (surprise surprise?) so here are a couple of friendly reminders. If you need/want them.

Justice - Let There Be Light (Breakbot Remix)

Breakbot - Summer Party

I really feel like a broken record here, but again I was quite slow on the uptake of the Ash Le Rouge set Trent posted a month or two ago. All of a sudden in the last couple of weeks I can't stop dreaming of its quirky sort of darkness and delightful smoothness. One song in particular that I'm really digging is by Bot'Ox. So cruisy and well thought out.

Bot'Ox - Babylon By Car

I've always hated the idea of using my blog for self promotion. Hmmm. So I'll just subtly mention for those astute enough to be reading this that I've finished a new mix which I'm pretty happy with. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for all the emails, I keep trying but somehow I'm now 180 behind. Ugh.. Holidays soon, should sort shit out. Love!

i suspected that would be the stones song Boonie would end with. Strangely enough, it plays at the Gap, where i work. It's a soulwax remix in case you didn't know.
