Ash Le Rouge is like this really sexy and funny friend of mine who sent me this mix. His ability to rock a party with his laid back vibe and general party humour is only matched by his ability on the 1s and 2s. Here is a mix he did with his sometimes bestie and general disco cosmonaut Will Hawthorn. To be completely honest with you, it could be the best thing I've ever heard. I can't wait for the party. Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Have to thank the excellent discobelle for this one - David Rubato's mix of Shadows. Sooo cool! I really love the sounds he's used, the power of the bass, the airy synths. Not so crazy about the vocals, I think the original take may have worked better, but whatever. I'm in love with his style. Check out an older track of his too, Circuit, scented with Eau de Bangalter. I'm sad I didn't discover him earlier, but will be stalking him something fierce from now on.

Really liking the sounds of TERROR DACTEL from Washington. It's the heavier electro sound without the stale crusts. Here's one from his album due in a few months. The start reminds me of Wildcat, which makes me happy. Give it a whirl, see what you think.

Getting Old

50th post here! Suppose it's a bit shameful, 1st birthday is just over a month away, but at least things are more or less still going.

Here's a Switch mix that's been around for a long time but hasn't seen much attention, oddly enough - his mesmerising, almost tribal take on Jacques Your Body. Maybe some find it boring but I've always really enjoyed it as a cool deep groove you could throw in somewhere to really intensify things. Just thought I'd put it on offer, since a surprising number of people haven't heard it.

Something else that's been around a while, but in this case has seen extremely minimal distribution, is one of K I M's finest. Seeing as the trend seems to be for his old tunes to be re-released as singles, I'd expect this one to be next, so I'll only up a 128k version for home listening. Complete with cheeky pirate flute and a light-heartedly majestic synth line, it breaks into a killer rhythmic head bopper. Check the Bag Raiders mix for a laff too.

I'm sure this has been posted around a lot for a while, I don't mean to be stealing, but a really lovely Cut Copy mix that continues to grow on me. An incredibly feel good moment when the super thick bass line plods in around half way. Very uplifting!

Apologies for the long silence. Again. I've not heard anything recently that's motivated me enough to post. Although I haven't been monitoring other blogs, I have to say electro is a bit dead for me. The originality seems to have disappeared and, speaking generally, it's all just a sea of sameness. I'm really keen to see what's going to happen next!

I was shuffling tracks on iTunes and found this (correct me if I'm wrong) Californian community radio mix I apparently got in August last year, I think, which must have gone unlistened. This is a MUST for anyone who's been along for the whole electro ride over the last couple of years - an unbelievably fun tumbling mash of amazing club and blog memories. A real nostalgic treat yet at the same time a really funky unique way of squeezing everything together. Ed Bang Gang? If anyone knows any more info about it that would be awesome - a tracklisting, who did it, etc - I don't have a clue where or how I got it.

KWMR FM - Smart Mix

A cool track from fresh Sydney locals Shades. The song progresses nicely and I like the sounds and pretty samples they use. Take a peek, and keep an eye on what they're doing. I expect good things.

Shades - It's the Life

I really dig the French house bass in The Twelves remix of Drugs In My Body, it's such a classic tone. It's a song that's been remixed a stack of times, but all seem to turn out a bit similar and boring. This one is relatively subtle but very enjoyable. You've probably heard it, but if not, it's well worth a listen. These guys really seem to know their music, perhaps they'll be amongst artists who manage to save things.

I heard this song without knowing what it was, but quickly made the connection. It's a really cool return to Fun Punch, which is less exciting but more interesting.

After slowly picking out songs here and there, I've noticed the tracks I chose for this post are all a bit similar. Well, Trent beat me to posting the Mathematikal mix, but the other two are also grinding banger-ish types with plenty of grit, just as I thought I may be steering away from that sort of stuff a bit. Surprising, but pleasantly surprising. I'll kick it off with the Para One remix of My Head, which I wasn't aware of until i found it on the other side of my Lava Lava 12". Killer, tight rhythms! Punching bass! High intensity effects! From past experience, you know anything touched by both Boys Noize and Para One has to be gold.

Was kindly sent this fine tune from Belgian duo Mascotte, who make some really nice groovy-yet-sinister sounds. This is perhaps not as dark as some of their other songs, but it's a good introdudtion to their vibe. Plenty of pleasing noise. I'm looking forward to hearing them make music in 08, I have faith they'll stay on top of things.

Mascotte - Backspace

A couple of old tunes, again from inthemix.06 (get it! get it! GET IT!), both amazing and quite different takes by Mike Monday on Whirlpool Productions' 'anthem' if you want to call it that. The first is swelling melodic disco that layers and builds gently into deep, uplifting, warm funk. The dub takes a totally different angle, with jagged beats and stabbing synths. It's a far more aggressive and deformed wrap of the song, but works just as well. Together the two tracks compliment each other just dandy, and I love how they're used on the album to blatantly indicate the direction the disc has taken.

Impressed

I'm really impressed with the new Fischerpooner track. It's quite similar to their old stuff, and I think that's what I like about it. Dragging bass and almost poppy synth lines complimented by the completely recognisable vocals of Casey Spooner. To be released on the Kistuné Maison 5 Golden Edition on the 4th of February.

I've been trying to get my hands on this track for a while and thankfully it got sent to us the other day. Mathematikal has been featured on this blog for some of his remixes before, and not without reason. His remixes have a certain standard of production which is sometimes hard to come by! I feel this remix is a definite improvement on the original Harris Robotis track, Go. It's way more 'party' than the original and seems to keep it together a bit more. Check it out!

A pretty old track from 2005, which was recently rehashed by Neil. The self titled track by Speedcats has such an awesome build up to a deserving break down. The distorted guitar lead and grinding bass make it a unique and epic track.
