Laiiid Back I'll Give You Laid Back

Yeeeeee Boiiiiii! Just doing some procrastinating, figure I should share some relaxing goodies.

For a start - Tim Sweeney on Saturday was SO GOOD. Oh man. So refreshing! I'm instantly inspired to spend all my time/dollars record hunting again, none of this digital rubbish! One of his staple tunes seems to be The Rose by The Laughing Light of Plenty, and for very good reason. Bigstereo threw this one up a few months ago but it's well worth a delayed post here - a magnificent build with a whole heap of seemingly invisible energy that gives you no choice but to move. A brilliant song and a joy to hear Sweeney unleash it in the flesh! He sent me pretty schoolgirl..

The Laughing Light of Plenty - The Rose

I just finished a mix for GBH.tv (which I think is going to appear on friday's show) which admittedly was very rushed, but it got me looking through some records I got ages ago on the cheap and kind of neglected straight away. One in particular I'd forgotten about was a Brice Lee tune which I only bought in the first place because it had a Yuksek remix. Personally I think the original is way out in front. Really cool bassline groove, an overall really hot funky party feel. Hoping I find some other gems in my mystery pile.

Brice Lee - Spam (Extended Version)

High Life is a rrreally funky French collab between Askine, Begbie and Daze which I really should have blogged a long time ago. Especially love Too High - a really nice loungey number with some nice warm laid back rhythm guitar. A Kind of Feeling is more typical French House with a nice poppy vocal sample and tight slap bass. Not sure if they're still doing anything together, but fingers are crossed.

High Life - Too High

High Life - A Kind of Feeling

Still not going to stop yapping on about Us Two Music and Outcross Records. Seriously, they're the shit. Well Miguel Campbell isn't actually on Us Two, but he and Matt Hughes seem to be pretty tight - from what I can tell - so close enough. Need I say more? This tune is nice easy going soulful burner. Great production, great feel. Etc etc etc. Some new Us Two stuff got sent around today, some Outrunners tunes, go search them out.

Miguel Campbell - Can't Get Enough

The Phantom's Revenge aka the inventor of the 'disco banger' has more more more. Here's one from an upcoming free EP of short-and-sweet songs which, if it's representative of the rest, is going to be a winner. I'm not sure why I say most of this stuff anymore, it's all become quite obvious haha. TPR can't put a foot wrong; his consistency is undeniable. DISCO BANGERSSS!

The Phantom's Revenge - 3 Minutes with Apollo Creed

A couple of bonus songies just because I feel like it. I recently posted the Still Going remix of Anywhere, but I've since switched over to prefering the Compuphonic and Kolombo mix. It's got more character, a livelier feel, cooler sounds - it's just generally more exciting. Not to take away from the SG mix, but this is just more appealing to me right now. Also, I only recently (thanks to Kiyoshi) discovered that the amazing transformation of Da Funk in Alive 1997 is actually an Armand Van Helden remix. I can't believe I'd never stumbled across it before! Anyway, here it is in case anybody else made the same mistake.

The Presets - Anywhere (Compuphonic and Kolombo Remix)

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Armand Van Helden's 'Ten Minutes of Funk' Mix)

Hot hot hot hot~

Tight

Just heard the very sad news that house king Frankie Knuckles is recovering after having his leg amputated due to diabetes. Here's hoping he quickly returns to good health, and that he'll continue his DJing and producing. I've been listening to his dub (not the remix) of Blind a lot lately and loving the extra-laid back vibe and cruisiness of it. That word apparently doesn't exist but that's how I'm labelling this track. Superb producing! Get well soon Frankie!

Hercules & Love Affair - Blind (Frankie Knuckles Dub)

In Flagranti's first release on Kitsune has been killing it. Of course. And naturally it's attracted a stack of big names to lay their remixing powah upon it with fab results. Thanks to Climaxxx Blog and Penned Madness for Arveene & Misk's amazing rendition. The bass sound alone is gold medal worthy. Holy Ghost's cover is pretty much what you'd expect from the DFA juggernaut: fucking hot. Both of these are big winners!

In Flagranti - Business Acumen (Arveene & Misk's Business Acid Remix)

In Flagranti - Business Acumen (Holy Ghost! Cover Version)

This stuff is a bit heavier than I'd usually post, but Northie has some serious talent at the ripe (and tender (and supple)) young age of 19 so I think it's well worth sharing. If you're in Sydney go scout him out and hear one of his monster sets. These are all priiime tracks to play out at 3am! Expect to hear more of Northie in times coming.

Northie - Ladies Love It (Lady - Modjo Bootleg)

Northie - Wowsers! (Inspector Gadget Bootleg)

Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (Northie Remix)

Divine Mother Zebrass is a high ranking contender for coolest MySpace background. Cool gimmicky graphics that excite me way too much aside, DMZ is pumping out some slick slick slick muzak. I'll get around to posting more soon - I'm really thirsty but I want to finish this post before I go get a drink, so it's a bit half assed. Just listen to this tune, it's excellent.

Rockland - Californi-yee (Divine Mother Zebrass Mix)

And for some good measure in the house department, check out this fantastic remix by Galactik Knights - mentioned a couple of posts ago. Sensational bassline, omigod! Like I've already said, you must go check them out. I'll start making threats otherwise.

Faroud Jackson - Walking In Space (Galactik Knights)

K bibi.

France is the New (Old?) France

Or France is the old new France? Or something. I've taken a step back into the world of Roulé and delightful memories of the French House explosion are flooding back in waves of ecstasy. How about a revival? I suppose Breakbot is doing a nice job preserving + updating the sound. Any other takers?

Here's some inspiration! Starting with the most obvious and heading down to.... still the most obvious. I feel like a tool, but I was never actually aware these remixes existed. Hopefully they're new to some other ears too, because I was super impressed. Bob Sinclar's mix of Stardust is the cooolest song I could think of sliding down a couch to. Dimitri and Bibi's adds some nice disco chic flavour with Dim's typically wonderful long progression stretching it out to a 10+ minute grooveee.

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (Bob Sinclar Remix)

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (Bibi & Dim's Anthem From Paris)

Bangalter, the glorious man responsible for human existence, put out plenty of great tunes on his label, but my faves are probably his remixes. His super funky mix of Roy Davis Jr's track, already an especially funky number, adds some typical Bangalter awesomeness, whilst the super-slow-to-start over-the-top-filter edit of Braxe's Vertigo breaks into an upbeat energetic bouncy ball. Bring back filter house!

Roy Davis Jr. - Rock Shock (Thomas Bangalter's Start-Stop Mix)

Alan Braxe - Vertigo (Thomas Bangalter's Virgo Edit)

More predictable classics I hear you cry? I like your enthusiasm. Let's go way mainstream with big French duos. Not much needs to be said about any of these, they're all solid gold (I'll take this opportunity to say a massive thanks to the brilliant Solid Goldberger, where i found most of the Roulé tracks!) and proof that just because music is hugely popular doesn't instantly mean it's shit. Cassius are amazing. Daft Punk are amazing. Bangalter/Falcon Supercombo are amazing. Easy.

Cassius - Cassius 1999 (Remix) (Long Version)

Daft Punk - Something About Us (Eastar Remix - Without Brass Version)

Together - So Much Love To Give (Archigram Remix)

Oh dear. I'm getting in DEEP here, soon I'll be posting the latest Ministry of Sound singles. I'll try and restrain myself after I get this out of my system: I'm guessing a lot of you agree with me (whether you want to admit it or not) that Stuart Price's remix of Four to the Floor was one of the sweetest tunes ever. I remember listening to it over and over when I was 15 or whatever, and years on it still has the same effect on me. C'mon, it's pretty fucking killer, yes? Don't be shy.

Starsailor - Four to the Floor (Thin White Duke Remix)

Ok ok, last one. I'm just in a self-dug chasm of blog shame here, so I may as well just finish off with a big blog steal (thank you discobelle) of Miami Horror's latest Presets remix. Usually I don't post Ben's stuff because within seconds of release it's all over every blog you can find, but this is just too good not to get a piece of the action. Without a doubt one of the best Aussie producers at the moment, and he keeps getting better, which makes me a proud boy.

The Presets - Talk Like That (Miami Horror Remix)

Oh well, I'm just having a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy these reminders like I have! To cap off this shameful message, here's some blatant self promotion: I urge any of you Sydney hipsters to swing by Candy's Apartment this Friday for the ridiculously fun night we're putting on each week of July. Calling In Sick are our special blog-cred guests this week, so it'll be well worth coming! Hope to see you there :) come say hello!

I'm Tired

I could spend forever bitching about blogs and how (particularly in the case of new blogs) they seem to have become everything they started out being against and how I'm really disheartened. But that would take too long. It's more something I'd drunkenly rant about to some poor stranger at a club. So think yourselves lucky. In any case, I'm far less enthusiastic about blogging than I used to be, hence the awful lack of posting. Sorry... I'll just roll with it.

All that aside though: I used to LOVE anything D.I.M. touched and in the last few months it's been a bit the other way around. For me his sound has become quite repetitive and stale. I really don't think it reflects the direction that electronic music is taking at this stage anyway. But I find myself strangely in awe of this not-so-newish mix of his. It's innovative, simple and very well thought out. I just go completely mental for the feel of those drums. It really seems like a love-or-hate tune, so judge for yourself. I found this on the always delightful redthreat - thank you!

Jape - Floating (D.I.M. Remix)

I've taken an instant liking/loving to The Phantom's Revenge, a lovely French fellow. He's really got a knack for gently butchering retro disco-ish sounds and this choon is no exception. Wouldn't have a clue what these samples are, but it's good fun discobanger party noise all the way. Can't wait for more.

The Phantom's Revenge - Moondancer

Another reluctant steal, this time from the marvelous discodust. I couldn't help myself here. Would never have expected Fancy Footwork to make a comeback, but the new remixes are pretty dope (note the cliché blog terminology? I'm really just blending into the rest of the pack now hey?) and particularly the Laidback Luke mix has me jiving around my room like I'm in need of some sort of help. Really nicely reworked for the club to bulldoze dancefloors. In a good way. So funky!

Chromeo - Fancy Footwork (Laidback Luke Remix)

Here's a classic that I'm posting because, after having the record for a while, I've had a hard time finding it online. The simply lovely Kawazaki dub of NY Excuse, featuring a splash of Funky Town and some fantasticly overdone cowbelling. Perhaps you've heard it, perhaps you haven't, but it's glorious.

Soulwax - NY Lipps (Kawazaki Dub)

Mash ups are cheesy. Boo hoo hoo, I'm not listening. Here's a great one from way back (which in blog terms could mean 2 weeks but not in this case) by Left Handed Bastard. Really just a nice alternative to play out, which is always handy.

Daft Punk vs Cosmos - Take Me Harder (Left Handed Bastard Bootleg Mix)

And finally, Hookie (from Starfuckers) makes a triumphant mixtape return with Less Hands, More Rave Chapter 2. The first was excellent. This is excellent. If you've heard the first, you don't need to be told he has a real talent for jamming things together and making it sound like one big long semi-retarded killer song. Despite the craziness it's got a nice flow, is what I mean. Tracklisting is here.

Hookie - Less Hands, More Rave Ch. 2

Hosting is still in the works. Fuck, I'm seriously going to flip about this soon. Also, thanks to those who keep sending stuff in - I'm about 150 emails behind but I WILL listen sooner or later. Sorry!

Happy Birthday!

Less one day, but yay, we've turned 1! I didn't actually intend for readership to extend past two of my friends when it started, so it's been pretty cool watching the blog grow a bit and get some looks. Thanks for reading! Hopefully we'll chug along another year yet, if not more than that.

I didn't do a best of 07 post or anything like that, but I think I'd like to do a personal 'Best of Disco Delicious so far' - some of the stuff Trentertainment or I have posted that I still love to bits. Just humour me and pretend to be happy with it. Note: [o] links to original post for nostalgia purposes.

OK. The Road to Recovery remixes were fucking brilliant. From the original powersynth Miami Horror redazzle to the dark and throbbing D.I.M mix to the insane Curses! power-banger - which has been a staple tune for me since first listen - you've got a broad armoury of amazing tunes. At first I was distraught that SebastiAn never ended up doing the remix he was commissioned to make, but these three are more than enough to compensate.

Midnight Juggernauts - Road to Recovery (Miami Horror Remix) [o]

Midnight Juggernauts - Road to Recovery (D.I.M Remix) [o]

Midnight Juggernauts - Road to Recovery (Curses! Remix) [o]

Simian Mobile Disco really stole my heart in 07. I find it hard to describe what it is about their music that makes them so good. It's so clear and precise and focussed, and generally they sound like extremely good musicians with a real talent for expressing ideas just how they want them. My faves, aside from the Muse remix, have been Wooden and the Presets remix. Both stunning examples of what these guys can do.

The Presets - Are You The One? (Simian Mobile Disco Remix) [o]

Simian Mobile Disco - Wooden [o]

Speaking of Muse, the DIOYY? remix of Map of the Problematique rocked my socks in a big big way. About as banging as they come, really. Not much needs to be said, the song explains itself more the louder it's played.

Muse - Map of the Problematique (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix) [o]

'07 saw the most ridiculously hyped event ever held in Australia - Daft Punk. Within a month of the official announcement, everybody who was anybody (and a lot of nobodys) magically became their #1 fan. I can't think of many music epidemics lasting just a few months that have reached the level of insanity that this did. I may be exaggerating... But anyway, it was of course deserved. Of the stuff on here, I'll re-up a couple of prior loves that aren't as painfully obvious as some others. Check out the Daft Bonanza post too with a bunch of yummy live sets.

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Remix) [o]

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Casino Inc. Amazing Disco Remix) [o]

The infamous Starfuckers continues to grow and grow into some kind of hideously deformed club monster. Still the best music, crowd and venue in Sydney by a long way. Check out the first Starfuckers mix Neon Nights here, if you haven't already. Many months prior to that though was resident Hookie's LESS HANDS, MORE RAVE promo. Sooo sensationally good. It dominated the car rotation for longer than many, which is no mean feat. Tracklisting is here. I'll also throw in the first thing Trent posted, a unique and astonishing old Bang Gang mix which I otherwise would never have stumbled across.

Hookie - LESS HANDS, MORE RAVE!!! Chapter 1 [o]

Ajax and Gus da Hoodrat - Art Killers [o]

A couple of tunes I enjoyed many listens over: the quirky, unexpectedly funky Oizo chop of Merrymaking, and the Mathematikal re-edit of DVNO, which I think is their best to date. Both add the perfect amount of freshness to already solid originals.

Calvin Harris - Merrymaking at My Place (Mr. Oizo Remix) [o]

Justice - DVNO (Mathematikal Re-edit) [o]

The blog almost certainly would have slowly dissolved and died if Trent hadn't come to the rescue some months ago. I'm sure nobody denies he is excellent. In particular this post had me questioning my sexuality. The SebastiAn remix of Das Pop... I won't even bother trying to articulate my erotic feelings for that song. The Destroy Disco mix also got me really excited about a new potential electro-producing volcano in Sydney.

Das Pop - Fool For Love (SebastiAn Remix) [o]

Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (Destroy Disco Remix) [o]

I know I only posted this a month ago, but in light of the Cut Copy hypefest washing over the blogosphere, coupled with my oh-so-tender love for this song, allow me to reintroduce you to a very fine remix. Oh that bass... Like a fat kid storming a party and gobbling up everything he can see. Really a beautiful thing! In additional new-Aussie-album celebration, cop the super Presets/Madonna mash for a third and (perhaps?) final time.

Mercy Arms - Kept Low (Cut Copy Remix) [o]

The Presets/Madonna - Hung Down [o]

And finally, maybe still my favourite mixtape ever, an Avalanches masterpiece, Gimix. A total change of pace from everything else on this blog, but top top top quality. Everything from Bob Dylan to Fatboy Slim, this is THE soundtrack to a carefree summer day. Tracklisting is here.

The Avalanches - Gimix [o]

New stuff is on its way, so don't get all grumpy and sulky. Lots of love, and keep reading! Still trying to sort this hosting issue, hold tight...

Spring Has Sprung!

Only a quicky today, still busy times. I just noticed the new D.I.M. remix of Road to Recovery has popped up on Beatport, and I reckon it's pretty nice. Unlike the Miami Horror remix, it's a complete change from the original with some nice heavy thumping bass. It's at least worth taking a look at. Can't say I know what the deal is as far as a remix 12" for the tune goes, but I'm certainly keeping my hopes up. Here's the 192 mp3 until then.

Midnight Juggernauts - Road to Recovery (D.I.M. Remix)

And I'll throw in another couple of treats from my GhettoRuckus pals. Exciting things are happening for them at the moment, with Hervé showing interest in their producing (the One Inch remix is a response to a request by him) and the HBFS remix featuring on Kissy Sell Out's current chart up at number 11. I can see how it would appeal to Kissy - it's quite his style. Mmmmm, yum.

Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (GhettoRuckus Remix)

Muscles - One Inch Badge Pin (GhettoRuckus Remix)

Don't lose faith - DD will pick up again shortly.

Plenty To See Here!

Got some great tunes to share today! First up, Pirate Robot Midget - 3 talented musicians/producers from Italy, The Netherlands and France - were kind enough to send along some goodies, including their remix of 'B-Attack' by Jumi which was love at first sight. Expect more great in-your-face dirty dance tunes on their debut album due in a few months time.

Jumi - B-Attack (Pirate Robot Midget Remix)

Mathematikal - BLKMGK (Pirate Robot Midget Remix)

Now perhaps I've just finally snapped, but after years of feeling nothing but disappointment and hatred for Daft Punk's extremely... similar remix of 'Take Me Out', I've done a complete 180 and quite often see it jumping onto my record player. Something about the way that funky syncopated strutting guitar seems to stick out and drive the song a bit more and the (deafeningly obvious yet somehow subtle?) build from that trademark Daft Punk 'noise' just draws me in. Is the nuthouse the next step for me? Either way, I've always felt passionate about the song, whether negatively or positively, so at very least it should evoke some kind of emotion for you. Bashings welcome.

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Remix)

The long awaited EP from The Toxic Avenger looks like it should be coming out shortly, which is very exciting news. His sour apple flavoured crunchy electro synths are a treat on the dance floor, and the new tunes definitely still fit that vibe. He'll hit Australian shores in September for two Sydney shows which should be insane! Have a listen to the new tracks on his MySpace, but he has sent a special little present - some sexy remixes and another new track I've not seen elsewhere. Thanks Toxie!

The Toxic Avenger - Stage Diving

Dragonette - Take It Like A Man (The Toxic Avenger Remix)

And finally, The Freelance Hellraiser from the UK has been pumping out some very hot music, and sent by some to sample which I'm sure you'll enjoy. I'm a total sucker for cut up vocals, so his remix of 'Vista Countdown' gets an instant thumbs up, whilst 'Can't Hide' is an electro funk jam that makes for a great soundtrack to a mean strut down the main street in the city, hair brushed back doing a Fonzie style point at the impressed-looking foxes.

Dolby Anol - Vista Countdown (The Freelance Hellraiser Remix)

The Freelance Hellraiser - Can't Hide (feat. Jan Hammer)

Have a great weekend!

The Best Of What You May Have Missed

A trip down short term memory lane here as I repost some tracks from way back when (a month or two?) in case they were missed. On display we have an addictive mash-up of Madonna's 'Hung Up' and The Presets' 'Down Down Down' that was released on a limited Modular 3"CD free with t-shirts; another cool mash by The Avalanches of Digitalism and Wham!; a sensational Blamma! Blamma! remix of Maximo Park featuring some violent vocal editing; sterling reworking of a Daft Punk classic by Casino Inc.; and the filthy Justice remix of their own 'Waters of Nazareth'.

The Presets/Madonna - Hung Down

The Avalanches - Ray of Zdarlight

Maximo Park - Our Velocity (Blamma! Blamma! Terminal Velocity Remix)

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Casino Inc. Amazing Disco Remix)

Justice - Waters of Nazareth (Justice Remix)

Boy that certainly was a poorly formatted paragraph.. but after all the apologies in the last post you're not getting shit from me. Now while we're on the topic of not-so-new stuff, how about a mega classic Switch mix that's still swirling around my iTunes regularly. Why oh why won't this come out on vinyl already?

Jacknife Lee - Making Me Money (Switch Remix)

"Something new" I hear you cry? Well, Does It Offend You, Yeah? have done a lovely remix for Muse, which is a refreshing change since I've not been that impressed with most of the attempts made on their songs. Although there's a bit of vocal wankery, the pumping mid-section makes up for it.

Muse - Map Of The Proplematique (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix)

And finally, if you're a Sydneysider, Ghettoruckus DJ's will be tearing up Ruby Rabbit on Friday night so make sure you come along and support! Here's a short teaser to wet your whistle.

Ghettoruckus DJ's - Minimix (Demo)

Party on, dudes!

Daft Bonanza!

Sorry guys, rather than reupload this stack of files every time a hosting company decides they don't like me, i'll just link you to Kiyoshi's more comprehensive collection of DP live sets. I know when i'm beat :p

Check it out here

The following text is now a lovely waste of space:

And now, for your listening pleasure, I present (almost) every Daft Punk live/radio set I could find between 1996 and 2002. It includes two appearances on Radio 1, an early live set from March '96 (which is very poor quality I'm sorry, but it's a great insight into pre-Homework DP) and a fantastic set with DJ Sneak in Ibiza, 2000. I'll take this time to apologise if any of the info or dates of the sets are incorrect, as it was quite tough to get a hold of any details, so please feel free to correct me on anything. Also, I didn't add in the Alive 1997 album or Live @ The Rex Club '97, since they're both relatively easy to find. In fact, if you don't already own a copy of Alive 1997, then get it here before your life gets any lonelier! Here they are in chronological order:

Daft Punk - Live @ Even Further, 1996
Daft Punk - Radio 1 Essential Mix, 1997 - Part 1
Daft Punk - Radio 1 Essential Mix, 1997 - Part 2
Daft Punk - Fun Radio, 1997
Daft Punk - Live @ Twilo, 1998
Daft Punk - Live @ Cameo Theatre Miami, 1999
Daft Punk - Radio 1 Essential Selection, NYE 1999
Daft Punk & DJ Sneak - Live @ El Divinio Ibiza, 2000
Daft Punk - Live @ Radio Siglo 21, 2002

Phew! Nearly 9 hours of Frenchy goodness. Go get 'em, tiger!

And... sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry and a million sorries for posting a MySpace rip, but I find this song ridiculously irresistable and MUST share it, whatever the quality! Just surfacing in the last couple of days is Mr. Oizo's remix of 'Merrymaking At My House' by Calvin Harris and as far as I'm concerned it is the shit! It's certainly one of Oizo's grooviest works. See for yourself!

Calvin Harris - Merrymaking At My Place (Mr. Oizo Remix) [MySpace Rip]

Again... sorry for the rip :\

Don't Be Alarmed

Just checking out some new hosting, and seeing if the Hype Machine is happy to talk to it. Besides, it's a great track, so I'm not wasting anybody's time :)

Para One - Club Hoppin (Small Saul Re-Edit)

Oh, and shit, this tune makes me want to dance!! It's a bit cheesy, but I feel the proper application of cheese can be tres cool - great work by Chris Lake.

Mark Ronson feat. Lily Allen - Oh My God (Chris Lake Remix)

Keep your e-eyes peeled for a Daft Punk live set frenzy, covering 1996 to 2002, which should be happening some time in the next few days once I get everything uploaded.

Sexy After All

I don't mean to be a thief, but how could I not post this? Daft Punk's Bercy set has arrived on the internet, which is big big news. All you need is a 10,000 Watt PA system, a light show so bright it blinds people in neighbouring countries, a couple of well dressed illuminated robots, thousands of gawking kids and a million tonnes of crazy hyped up atmosphere and you may be able to put together a semi-accurate representation of the show. Or just take some acid or something.. Either way, this comes courtesy of blog friends Kidz By Colette who you must bookmark - thank you!

Daft Punk - Alive 2007, Bercy

Give it 6 months and us Aussies will have tasted the fruit.

Post-Mega-Weekend Mega-Post!

Sorry for taking so long to post, it's been a very busy week and mammoth weekend, including seeing Groove Terminator (GT) bust out some bangers. I've got some super fresh tracks though so the wait should be worth it :)

Firstly, a new remix by those 'i could have sworn they were french' americans, Plus Move. It's for a French group, SOx, and has a great bitey electro surging bass line and dancing synths. Well suited to clubs!

SOx - Can I Speak To (Plus Move Remix) [alt link]

Next, Woodie from Sydney buddies the Ghettoruckus DJ's was kind enough to send along their latest work, an original track 'Alphabet'. Crunchy filthy distortion blanketing everything sounds so refreshing to my munt-ruined ears. Also, sampling from 'Sandwiches', a past favourite of mine, and some Waters' beats in there are very smile worthy. While you're at it, head over to their blog and check out the 'Tortured In Vietnam' mix. Hotty hot hot!

Ghettoruckus DJ's - Alphabet [alt link]

Now just quickly, the Justice BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix is out!@&$%@ Wowsers. Millions of thanks to discobelle for this one! You can see the tracklisting there. FUUUUUUUUCK GET IT NOW

Justice - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

How about a bit more Blamma! Blamma! to fire up the discooo? This mix of Headland's 'Dogging Sisters' is an intense affair of ascending synth lines and tight muffled drums. Fun fun stuff!

Headland - Dogging Sisters (Blamma! Blamma! Remix) [alt link]

Now, it also occurred to me that maybe not many people had heard Justice's remix of 'Blood On Our Hands' by one of my favourite bands, the late Death From Above 1979. This would be a crying shame indeed, so I thought I should up this classic mix for you people. Everyone loves that old signature Justice bassline!

Death From Above 1979 - Blood On Our Hands (Justice Remix) [alt link]

Even though it's been posted everywhere, I can't help but share the Herve Goes Bananas remix of NYPC's 'Ice Cream', which has that Crookers/Switch kind of roller-coaster-ride deep bass groove going on that I'm so incredibly attracted to. It's the most irresistably groovy thing! Tell me you agree. By the way, Herve is from Speaker Junk who are also well worth listening to. A Switch mix of their track Foxxy Lady is here on DD.

New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream (Herve Goes Bananas Remix) [alt link]

In other news: mark my words, Daft Punk will be coming to Australia in December. I've been saying it since December last year and still say it, and now it's publicly on display to either humiliate me or confirm my legendary status :) haha

Also, there are a bunch of seriously killer tracks on their way to keep checking up for the massive choonz.

News From The Grapevine

A little birdy told me that French electronic music might soon become rather popular with the kids in the clubs. Now I can't say where I got this blisteringly hot tip, but what I can do is urge you to check out some really cool underground acts soon to blossum like Justice and Daft Punk.

..OK, but can we please be serious for a second people? For fucks sake. Check out these crunchy baguettes:

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Casino Inc. Amazing Disco Remix) [alt link]
Daft Punk - Burnin' (Ian Pooley Cut Up Mix) [alt link]

Great fresh funky house remix of a Homework classic by Casino Inc, three colourful French dudes. A nice happy summer tune. And to go with it, a classic mix of Burnin' by Ian Pooley (who is German but I think we can let that one slide) which expands on the super groovy percussion samples in the original.

Justice - The Party (feat. Uffie) [alt link]
Justice - Waters Of Nazareth (Justice Remix) [alt link]

Some new and old here. The Party is a track to be featured on the upcoming album, "", with Uffie helping out on vocals. It's more off an Uffie-style track, without any Justice trademark super distorted hats and electro crispiness, and although all of that is fantastic it's a breath of fresh air to hear them producing something a bit more laid back. Their remix of their own 'Waters', with the help of Feadz, is at the other end of the spectrum - stacks of overdriven effects, crazy rhythms, a song for hardcore Justice fans.
