Good Love Today!

Hello gang. I'm capped until friday so probably nothing til then, with the exception of the Road To Recovery mix that's keeping me up at night, if it appears.

Another fun remix of Mika's 'Love Today', by Spoon, is high on my charts. It's easy to listen to, fairly simple, and something about those vocals just makes me feel great. It's like the Scissor Sisters, without the annoying-factor. Lovely!

Now instead of uploading anything else, I command everyone to check out some of the fortnightly ArePeopleReal podcasts/radio shows, put together by the Broken Hooker Deejays, featuring a special guest each week. So far the guest artists have been sensational picks - Duke Dumont, ZZZ, Ajax, Plus Move, Kissy Sell Out, Yusek... Awesome!

Kappow!

Nothing has blown me away in the last week, and i'm still desperately waiting for the SebastiAn remix of 'Road To Recovery' to surface, so perhaps it's time for some obligitary tunes - for a start, the new Chemical Brothers material from the upcoming album We Are The Night is great. 'Do It Again' and the rather cheeky 'Salmon Dance' are my two faves for the moment, both featuring guest appearances. 'All Rights Reserved', the track featuring Klaxons, was not as impressive as I had hoped, or maybe that's just because it isn't the song I expected when putting the two artists together in my head. Anyways.. it's all good stuff.

In anticipation of the Juggernauts release, here's one of SebastiAn's latest works, this time done for Fields.

Look out for a non-ripped version of the MSTRKRFT remix of D.A.N.C.E. floating about too, which Virgin France appear to be trying hard to keep under wraps. It's on their MySpace anyway.. Tomorrow I'll post something from The Bravery's new album, assuming there's something worth sharing.

Yawnnnn

There's no denying that Melbourne's ZZZ has very quickly achieved quite a bit of e-ttention, and for good reason. I love his 'Signature' remix especially, and I'm looking forward to an official release of his work on Beats For Beginners' track 'Laser Beams' which you can listen to on his MySpace. ZZZ is one to look out for in the coming months, and keep an eye on his side project Onira too.

And what would a blog be without some Klaxons? I felt sure I had posted Kavinsky's remix of Gravity's Rainbow (a close call for the "way too many remixes" award, against it's rival D.A.N.C.E.) a week ago, but apparently not so here it is. It's more vanilla than most of the other remixes, but that's not a bad thing - K has kept it simple with his trademark high-flying synths. At least it shows he has potential in the remix game. Also, wet your whistle to the Guns'N'Bombs remix of the same number, a great heavy club banger.

Do Me On It!

I'll do my best to think about and listen to something other than Justice for a bit, so here we are: Simian Mobile Disco.

I've always found SMD to be a bit hit and miss with me. Some of their tracks and remixes are simply brilliant and beg to be put on time after time, whilst others just leave me confused and disappointed - and some I can't decide between the two (I either love or hate their remix of 'Are You The One', but never get any closer to a conclusion). The new album, however, is proof that they are very cluey producers and really do make some great music.

Out of the newer tracks on the record, 'Wooden' and 'Love' are personal favourites, while older classics like Hotdog and I Believe fit in perfectly. I've also added in one of my top SMD remixes, which was also in the love-it-or-hate-it? basket for a while.

Stressful Situation

OK, so posting new Justice tracks is pretty much pointless now - the moment one pops up somewhere it's duplicated squillions of times and everybody has it within minutes. It's a very difficult moral situation - to wait and wait for the album to be officially released (which might arrive by christmas time here in Australia if we're lucky) or to gobble up every new track until there's nothing left to hear.

Anyway, I'll let this be my last post of new Justice material, at least for a while. 'Stress' is the best leaked track I've heard yet, and sounds more like the mix of twisted darkness and fun banging dance that drew me to the duo in the first place. The song has a great build up, and I can't wait to hear it in its place on the album, right before Waters. This track is thanks to Put The Needle On The Record, a really top blog. Thanks guys!

Also, go check out Knightlife's new remix of Cobra Dukes track 'Leave The Light On', on Knightlife's MySpace - he's some hot Aussie tallent that should become more well known with music like that.

HIDEOUSLY DEFORMED CREATURE OF SUPERHUMAN SIZE AND STRENGTH!?#%&

The Toxic Avenger, another of our French buddies, has today introduced an EP trailer onto his MySpace which has caused my loins to quiver violently in anticipation. Think Ed Banger meets Van She/Bag Raiders. It's only a small taste of what's to come, but well worth checking out. I wasn't able to get a hold of an mp3 from Toxie, so I'll just post a couple of tried and tested songies up instead.

In Case You Couldn't Get Enough SebastiAn

For fucks sake people, do yourself a massive favour and listen to his latest live mix courtesy of Pig Radio and Discobelle. DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT NOW.

Watch This Space [-------]

I'm very excited to hear that SebastiAn will be whipping out a remix of Midnight Juggernauts' latest tune 'Road To Recovery', to be released on the 12" in "late May". Needless to say, sailvation levels are through the roof. The Juggers are coming up with some great remixes at the moment too, in particular their Kitsune-bound mix of Dragonette's 'I Get Around' (already a great tune to start off with) which has been blogged to death for good reason. Personally, I think anything off the Juggernauts' first EP 'Secrets of the Universe' is more solid than 'Road..', however Melbourne mate Miami Horror has proven it can be transformed into a masterpiece. Just because I love the idea of Aussie music incest so much, there's also a classic mix of 'Down Down Down' to feast on. Check out some more goodies on the Midnight Juggernauts Remixes MySpace. Anyway, to celebrate the joyous news, let's disco!

News From The Grapevine

A little birdy told me that French electronic music might soon become rather popular with the kids in the clubs. Now I can't say where I got this blisteringly hot tip, but what I can do is urge you to check out some really cool underground acts soon to blossum like Justice and Daft Punk.

..OK, but can we please be serious for a second people? For fucks sake. Check out these crunchy baguettes:

Daft Punk - Da Funk (Casino Inc. Amazing Disco Remix) [alt link]
Daft Punk - Burnin' (Ian Pooley Cut Up Mix) [alt link]

Great fresh funky house remix of a Homework classic by Casino Inc, three colourful French dudes. A nice happy summer tune. And to go with it, a classic mix of Burnin' by Ian Pooley (who is German but I think we can let that one slide) which expands on the super groovy percussion samples in the original.

Justice - The Party (feat. Uffie) [alt link]
Justice - Waters Of Nazareth (Justice Remix) [alt link]

Some new and old here. The Party is a track to be featured on the upcoming album, "", with Uffie helping out on vocals. It's more off an Uffie-style track, without any Justice trademark super distorted hats and electro crispiness, and although all of that is fantastic it's a breath of fresh air to hear them producing something a bit more laid back. Their remix of their own 'Waters', with the help of Feadz, is at the other end of the spectrum - stacks of overdriven effects, crazy rhythms, a song for hardcore Justice fans.

Those Sneaky Frenchies

A new SebastiAn remix!! It's that time of the month kids, when the Sebdawg unleashes another bad boy cut of some feisty indie rock tune. This one is a remix of Shesus's track 'Debbie's Shoes' (who I can't even find a MySpace or website for) which is a bit harder and faster, but easing off on the dissonance, and honestly isn't as overwhelmingly good as some of his other work. Still, it's certainly a keeper. I've also added the Faex Rework of Head/Off for the sake of adding something else sort of fresh, which I think is certainly an improvement on the original track. If you haven't already, check out Faex's Phantom Rework too, which combines old with new in a stunning package.

I've Finally Found You!

At long last I've found a couple of tracks that I've been hunting for ages, and so a wave of satisfaction comes over me. Not new tracks, just tunes I've been unlucky enough not to find for about 100 years. Anyway..

MBG & SDS - New Jack (Steve Angello Remix) [alt link]

After hearing it late last year in one of Justice's sets, I craved and craved until I reached the limit of craving and had to be hit by a car to take my mind off it. Perhaps not that extreme, but it's a seriously bangin' track that if only I had listened to my copy of Steve Angello Sessions again I would have found. Anything with vocals edited into a funky rhythm and I'm sold.

SebastiAn - Walkman (Re-Edit) [alt link]

Again, this was played in sets by Justice and by Sebastian & Kavinsky when they were out here. In my starstruck dumbfounded state I forgot to ask what the version was, and from then on was doomed to walk the earth cold and alone.

And a little cherry on top - another Switch mix (how predictable) winter warmer that I've been listening to a lot. Love the vocal sample!

Just Us

On my now hourly crawl of youtube looking for new videos of Justice at Coachella, I stumbled across MSTRKRFT playing a new remix of D.A.N.C.E. which is hot as shit. It's a shame the song has been played to death before even being officially released, but this bad boy is back to the top of the fresh pile. It's by Plus Move, a couple of yanks who've really got the hip French twist on things. Their mix of Kavinsky's Wayfarer is added in for good measure.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Plus Move Pirate Remix) [alt link]

Kavinsky - Wayfarer (Plus Move Remix) [alt link]

The Justice Coachella vids make me so jealous.. This one is probably the best so far. Rockin!

And I just found the new finished clip for D.A.N.C.E. which is fuckin great! So Me really is a cool artist, I loved that little video ad for Ed Rec Vol. 2, simiar sort of thing happening on Gaspard and Xavier's t-shirts. Three cheers!
